VALENCIA PUSH THROUGH CASINO BILL
The Consell of the Valencian Government on Friday approved a new decree over casinos and bingo halls. The measure is aimed at increasing the numbers of these establishments, whilst at the same time, allowing the Valencian Government to collect more taxes
DIAMANTE HOTEL TO REOPEN THIS WEEK
Health Conseller Luis Rosado and Calpe Mayor Cesar Sanchez have stated that the legionella virus found in the Hotel Diamante Beach was more aggressive than previous strains. Nevertheless, they both said that they expected the hotel to be able to reopen by the end of this week
RUBALCABA NEW LEADER OF PSOE
Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba is the new General Secretary of the PSOE Party succeeding Jose Zapatero. At the Seville Congress, Mr Perez Rubalcaba obtained 487 votes as opposed to his rival -- former Defence Minister Carmen Chacon -- who got 465. After the result was made known, Ms Chacon disappeared in a flood of tears and is believed to be starting a new movement that would directly confront as well as oppose the plans of Rubalcaba for the Party.
PSOE APPEAL CORRUPTION CASE
Eduardo Torres-Dulce, the new Official States Prosecutor, has said that he does not intend to appeal the not guilty verdict handed down by the Valencian court over the Francisco Camps corruption case. The PSOE Party, however, have said that this is unacceptable and it intend to present an appeal of their own today.
FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
In the weekends football there were wins for Elche and Torrevieja while both Thader and Horadada went down to Elche B and Polop respectively. Orihuela meanwhile drew at home to Ontinyent.
