TORREVIEJA TO REINTRODUCE TOURIST TRAIN SERVICE

Passengers can listen to an audio-guide during the journey

The City Council has said for the third time in less than one and a half months that it wishes to reintroduce the provision of the tourist train service this year.

Local police had to stop the service last summer when the vehicle was involved in a fatal accident involving a British tourist. Proposals have now been resubmitted and it is hoped that the service will be back in the Torrevieja Town centre in the coming weeks.

The train will run from the Paseo de la Libertad, just beside the markets in Torrevieja costing 3 Euro for an adult and 2 Euro for children. It will take passengers along the coastal part of the city past the floating museums and the monument to the Man of the Sea. On up to the Playa del Cura beach and then to Playa de los Locos beach and the Torre del Moro's viewpoint

The train is usually glazed during the winter months. It is also fitted out for disabled access and passengers can listen to an audio-guide during the journey.
