GLAMOUR, SEQUINS AND LAUGHTER
MOST of us dress up to attend the theatre and go out for a night on the town and on Friday, the same could be said for those who attended the Forth National Drag Queen Contest, held in the Municipal Theatre, at which the packed full house, dressed up, clapped, screamed and cheered and had a great night at the singular most irreverent performance that is seen in Torrevieja's Municipal Theatre! The night is a wonderful celebration of fun, laughter, self-mocking and just for fun.
If the previous editions were outstanding, on Friday January 27, it became a frenzy of laughter from an audience who played along with the huge feathers and sequins that filled the stage with the presentation from ‘Xaime Montenegro "followed by" Empire "(Antonio Torres Culiañes), 1 Lady Drag Queen of 2011, who also participated in the jury, along with Jose Morales Gomiz, Miriam Garcia Galera, José Antonio Bañuls, Stephanie Marin, Carnival Queen 2012 and Francisco Pizana Cutillo, secretary of the Cultural Carnival in Torrevieja.
It was a great value for money as for €5 the audience received more than three hours of virtually non-stop entertainment from the eight participants, defying gravity and balance on their colossal high-heals, interspersed with the usual presentation of "Lady G" accompanied by "Xaime Montenegro", making the night one to remember.
The National Award for Torrevieja's Drag Queen 2012, with prize money of €1,000 and a trophy went to Drag Divax, runner up was Ines Sparkling and third Violette Carson. The Drag Queens will once again be on display, adding a huge touch of glamour to the Carnival Parade Contest and the Night Carnival in Torrevieja 2012, two events that you must witness for yourself this February.
