CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ROBERT BURNS
Lions Club President Iain Bennett hosted a superb evening of Scottish entertainment at Restaurante Lo Marabu in Dona Pepa.
The evening commenced with a welcoming reception by the Torrevieja Pipes and Drums, guests then moved indoors to be welcomed by Iain.
Andy Colquhoun eloquently performed the Selkirk Grace, Alex Hunter piped in the haggis, followed by the address to the haggis by Jimmy Murdoch. An excellent display by the Drummers of Torrevieja got the temperature rising. The evening continued with fine food and a few drams with Iain performing the Immortal Memory. The toast to the lassies was presented with good humour by Rickie Stocks and the reply from the lassies was presented by Janette Bennett who was in fine form, giving sound advice to the laddies, on the eighteen rules of women.
After much merriment and more music from Piper Donnie McDiarmid the evening came to a close in traditional style with everyone singing Auld Lang Syne.
Julie, Dave,Steve,Nicky and all the staff were magnificent.
A wee word of advice from Iain, this event was sold out 10 days in advance, so if you want to attend next year you will have to book early.
