FUND RAISING EVENT FOR DALE BARTON.

There is a very worthwhile fund raising event on Tuesday, December 13, on behalf of Dale Barton at the Los Cucacos Restaurant at Los Dolces. The ticket entrance fee is only €10 a head, a buffet and glass of cava included. Contribution of entrance fee and raffle proceeds are going direct to Dale. Back in 2010, Dale Barton awoke feeling ill and called friends who took him to Torrevieja Hospital.

He had difficulty speaking and explaining his circumstances to the Polish doctor on duty, Piotr Chochowshi, who pronounced him as ‘drunk' and sent him home without conducting any tests. That night Dale Barton suffered a heart attack, and is now in a wheel chair and suffering epilepsy.

The Hospital in Torrevieja has been denounced and even though the British Consulate has spoken with Valencian Healthcare authorities, Valencia will not provide Dale with any care and he has now decided to return to the UK. Sadly has lost everything; his shop, his wife, his living and his health and now he is asking for help from those that he helped for years before his stroke.

Dale has contacted as many people as possible to help him including the action and awareness group PUMA22 and even wrote to various forum sites, such as on Torrevieja.com where he said on January 4, 2011, “Hi. I have suffered a major stroke, which has left me paralysed on one side.

I require assistance to continue with my life; my wife has needed to return to the UK to support me as I am unable to run my business anymore. I have been in Spain for 8 years, paying my way. I have NIE and Padron. What help is available for us please?” Unfortunately, the Valencian authorities have decided not to help Dale and thus this fundraising event is to raise some needed funds so that he can return to the UK for treatment and to try and rebuild his life.

The restaurant is easy to find, now that the bridge from La Zenia towards Villamartin has reopened. Travelling from La Zenia, go over the bridge over the motorway and at the next roundabout take the left turning alongside an urbanisation; take the left fork to the large Spanish restaurant with a big play area.

A number of local performers are all giving up their time for free to support the event including but not limited to Paul Cullen, Brams and Lyst, Johnny and Allie(incognitos), Mark Bailey (Michael Buble tribute) Ashley Jay (one half of the blues sisters), James Goulding are all confirmed while other local artists who will be trying to make an appearance on the night in a guest spot include Nick Gold, Dan the Man, Dan Davy and Dave Cherry. Great value for money for €10.00 and all in a good cause.
