FREEWHEELERS ROUNDUP
It has been a bit quite on the freewheelers front since we came back from the summer break although we did manage a visit to the ExpoFiesta at the Alicante exhibition centre and on the last Sunday we invaded the Sunday Drivers event at St. James Gate, a monthly display of classic and interesting vehicles, and ran off with their "Car of the Month" award as voted by the visitors to the show, participants were not allowed to vote.
On the 9th December Freewheelers had their Christmas lunch at Faulty Towers. This was preceded by a visit to the new 4 star Marjal Eco Camping resort just outside Catral by the AP7. This really is a top class camping resort with just about every facility you could wish for. There are 1500 pitches all with water, electric hook ups, TV point and drainage. There are also modern cabins fully kited out for 4/5 people.
Naturally there are bars and a restaurant, sports facilities, a very well equipped Gym, in fact everything you could think of including a Vet's office and bathing facilities for pets as well as a dog toilet area. After complementary drinks and snacks there was a complete tour of the site which is the finest camping site I have ever seen and I have lived in Germany where the sites are all top class. It was then off to Faulty Towers on the outskirts of Elche for lunch. With the dining room/concert hall to themselves it was just as well as there was much frivolity and Christmas spirit. In typical Spanish fashion the meal took over three hours but nobody seemed to mind, or if they did they kept quite about it.
