FIRE FIGHTERS PROTEST OVERTIME CUTS

Unions representing fire fighters in Alicante have categorically rejected plans by the municipal service managers to reduce their overtime by 50% in 2012.

Initially, the plan was to cut out all over time payments, but this was not accepted, prompting the hugely improved offer.

The move has come about after an additional 40 members of staff were recruited.
