ONCE TICKETS SHOW PICTURE OF TORREVIEJA

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has shown an image that is being used on an ONCE lottery ticket for the 20th November, that shows a typical scene of Torrevieja of a former salt boat now lay derelict in the Salinas of the city.

Showing off what the city council will become a tourist attraction, this image is the fourth time that the city of Torrevieja has been depicted on an ONCE ticket.

ROAD SAFETY COURSE STARTED

A new course on road safety started on Thursday in Torrevieja, in which almost 4,000 young people will learn the basics of dealing with the road network.

This course coincides with fifteenth anniversary of the purpose built traffic safety training park which is situated alongside the local police station in the city, which has successfully trained around forty thousand people in road safety.

VIGILANTES TAKE TO THE STREETS

Following a spate of recent break ins, that the authorities seem unable to deal with, residents of En Corts in Valencia have themselves taken to patrolling the streets at night.

Armed with sirens and fire-crackers, the concerned neighbours see their action as the last attempt to stem the increase in crime that has been running rife. Some neighbours are unable to leave their homes for fear of being broken into and have erected walls and fences, all of which have so far seem fruitless.

WIN AN IPAD 2 WITH HABANERAS

The Habaneras shopping centre in Torrevieja is offering a prize of an iPad 2 to celebrate reaching 7,000 “likes” on its Facebook page.

An information stand is in place in the main square of the centre, where free WiFi is available to assist you and the winner will be selected and announced after the 7,000 fans have been reached.

TAXI THIEF ARRESTED

The Guardia Civil have arrested a Romanian man, charged him with offences of disobedience and resistance to authority, a crime against road safety and theft, after the man stole a taxi that had just dropped of the passengers he was travelling with.

Three people entered the taxi and took a journey to their destination. Whilst the driver was assisting the two female passengers with their luggage, the male passenger took to the driver´s seat and sped off. Police were alerted and managed to eventually stop the vehicle before making the arrest.

The destination where the two females left the vehicle was the entrance of the psychiatric prison in Fontcalent and Cox.
