NEW PARK OPENS IN LAGO JARDIN II

The mayor tries his hand at Petanca

One of the commitments of Torrevieja's Conservative Partido Popular Council was to increase the amount of local recreation areas and sports facilities around the city. The latest of these was inaugurated last week and is located in Lago Jardin II.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, accompanied by the delegate of Parks and Gardens, Carmen Gomez, Councillor for Security Public Highway and Traffic, Eduardo Gil Rebollo, and Councillor for Foreign Residents Rosario Martinez, visited the new 3,000 square meter park that features a new green and recreational area for the enjoyment of local residents.

The park was created through municipal investment and features four petanca courts, children's playground, Biosalud, 8 benches, a toilet that is adapted for the disabled and perimeter fencing around the park. The Mayor has expressed his satisfaction with the good work done by the Department of Parks and Gardens, in an area that had become totally degraded and had become a dump, had been turned around and made into a beautiful park.

Eduardo Dolon said that the Municipality took over the responsibility of this area about nine months ago and immediately undertook a project of improvement that has culminated on Friday with the public opening of this park. The municipal investment amounted to €50,000. Eduardo Dolon added that next year, 2012, they will continue creating new green areas and recreational facilities in this urban environment south of Torrevieja.
