FIESTA COMMITTEE FOR ENTRE NARANJOS LAGUNA GREEN
Entre Naranjos and Laguna Green now have a new Fiesta Committee.
Throughout November 2011 residents from both Urbanisations have been meeting with Sebastian Andreu, the District Mayor, to form a Committee that will be responsible for organising future Fiestas.
As in every village across Orihuela, Fiesta Committees are solely responsible for organising the annual Fiestas. They are made up of local people who work throughout the year to plan and raise funds for their Fiesta, which is usually the highlight of the year and a focal point for the Community.
Our new Fiesta Committee is legally registered with the Town Hall and is constitutionally recognised under Spanish Law. Membership of the committee is open to anyone who wants to join and the meetings are also open to anyone who wants to attend. The Committee currently has 16 members with the Committee Secretary being Yvonne West, Committee Treasurer is Viv Cartledge and the President is Sarah Hill. Sebastian Andreu is also a Committee member and is guiding us through the Spanish procedures.
We are currently working on plans for next year's Fiesta of which the dates will be Friday 27th July and Saturday 28th July.
However, although we will be applying for some grants from Orihuela Town Hall, we really need to start fundraising as soon as possible to pay towards the Fiesta.
The first event is going to be a Carol Concert on Saturday 17th December, at 5pm on the Green Area on Entre Naranjos. There will be Mince Pies and Mulled Wine and a Raffle too. Please come and join us!!!
The dates of the next Committee meetings are: November 30th, December 5th, December 14th, December 21st, January 11th, January 18th and January 25th so far. They are held at Vistabella Restaurant, Vistabella at 10am.
Come and join us and bring us any ideas for fundraising and the Fiesta.
