THE ENTRE NARANJOS FIESTA

The party gets set

The heat was almost overwhelming, the sun was mostly blazing and the atmosphere was electric at the 2011 Entre Naranjos Fiesta.

The entire community came together to organise a variety of entertainment, all with the backing of the Orihuela Town Hall, and all under the watchful eye of John Reynolds, the man that the residents of this once forgotten town are so keen to represent them again.

The bouncy castles proved popular, with young and old alike taking to the variety of inflatable provided by Bouncy Bouncy.

The food and drink was a plenty and the welcoming crowd were wooed by some of the best local talent that came from mile around to give them something special for their summer afternoon.

Amongst the entertainers of the day, a long time favourite of many an ex-pat is Johnny Zeller, who sang a variety of classic songs that had the audience singing, dancing and clapping under the blazing sun.

An almost adopted daughter of Entre Naranjos, or certainly a favourite, the sensational Emily Hullmann also amazed everybody with a huge new collection of songs, from emotional ballads to up tempo pop tunes that proved the dexterity of her voice.

As well as the classic and favourite entertainers, the audience were also introduced to some of the new talent that´s starting to emerge. At just 14 years of age, there was not a single person who wasn´t blown away by the note perfect power of Rebecca Holt. Many people were keen to hear her perform, after reading about the success of her performance at the Playa Flamenca fiesta, as well as other performances she had given, but every person who heard her was in awe of the performance, never expecting it to be as amazing as it was.

Continuing the trend for wanting to give new, young talent the opportunity to perform, the Exite Radio team also introduced Elise Mac Gregor, who, at only 13, was an almost unbelievable compliment to the proceedings, singing a number of solo songs, before coupling up with Rebecca to perform a duets, complete with hand clapping dance routines that the audience couldn´t help but join in with.

Rebecca closed the show, after she was almost bullied into an encore, by also showing her skills at the piano, playing and singing some incredibly difficult songs, with performances that would have made the original artist feel a tinge of jealousy how somebody so young can perform so well, without the aid of enhancers and other technological devices that correct their performances.

Collectively, there was no doubt that talent really is out here, and will continue to make a mark on the Costa Blanca. Exite Radio will always try to search for these talented individuals, young and old, and are proud of the performances that everybody gave on the day.

We will feature some of the artists in future issues of The Leader, but for now, praise must go to every single person who did even the smallest of things to help a community come together and show what can be achieved if the dedication from those involved is encouraged.
