JAVEA AWARDS
The Plenary Session Rejects Two Development Plans in the Plá and Montgó
Jávea. Friday, August 26, 2011. By unanimous agreement at yesterday's plenary session, the Town Hall Council decided on the recipients of the 2011 "9 d'Octubre Villa de Javea" awards. In the Civic Values category, the award goes to Juan Bautista Codina Bas, writer, researcher, Doctor of Philosophy and Education and who has taught at all levels of education. This Ayuntamiento Award recognizes Codina Bas' “work researching information or events related to Javea and our ancestors”, a task that he continues to carry out to this day in the archives of the Diputación Provincial of Alicante reviewing all references on the town. An example of this research are the different books he has written, such as “Desde Jávea” (From Jávea), “Hombres de Jávea” (Men from Jávea) or “Jaime González Castellano, el médico que soñó Fontilles” (Jaime González Castellano, the Doctor who Dreamt of Fontilles), among others.
As for the 9 d'Octubre Solidarity Prize, the Town Hall has awarded it to Ramona Fernandez de Palencia, an altruistic woman "who has dedicated her life to her great family and to the underprivileged members of society." Known in the town as "Doña Ramona", she has been a "tireless fighter, promoting learning and values among the youth of Javea”, and has played a fundamental role in the opening of a Day Centre in Javea, which is managed by the Town Hall. Among her charity works, Fernandez de Palencia collaborates with parishes and has started various associations, such as the women of Jesus of Nazareth. Both awards will be presented at the official ceremony hosted by the Town Council to celebrate the 9 d'Octubre Holiday
Other agreements reached at the August Regular Plenary Session were the rejection of two development plans, Plà 2 and Montgó 3 and 4, as neither complied with the planning guidelines of the General Urban Plan, or with the Consultation Document, or with the territorial strategy of the Valencia Community and because the Town Council believes it is not the right time to develop more land that has not been programmed.
Also to do with planning matters, the City agreed to open a new tender invitation to develop and execute by indirect management the Integrated Action Programme of the Media Luna 6 Sector, in Portitxol.
Appointments
One of the important issues decided in the Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures, Procurement, Patrimony and Human Resources and approved in the plenary session, is the appointment of the Town Council representatives in the Municipal Agriculture Committee. Those appointed are José Bolufer Castelló (PSPV), José Javier Mata ( Xàbia Democrática), José Antonio Prada (Ciudadanos por Jávea), Joaquín Ribes Marquis (PP), Felip Buigues (Bloc-centrist) and Juan Planelles (Nueva Jávea). An agreement was also reached about the outside interests of the councillors of the Executive Board of the public water company Amjasa.
At the meeting, Mayor Jose Chulvi officially declared that he would waive his right to the full salary as Mayor and any financial compensation for attending meetings of public bodies.
