TWO STABBED AND FOUR ARRESTED IN GUARDAMAR BRAWL
According to Gardia Civil sources four men aged between 20 and 25 were arrested last week after allegedly assaulting two other youths with a knife near a recreation area located at the site of Santa Ana in Guardamar del Segura.
Following the brawl, the two victims, one suffering from life threatening wounds, were taken in two SAMU ambulances to the Torrevieja Hospital.
The incident occurred around 7.00 pm on Sunday evening in a parking lot located near an area surrounded by a number of nightclubs. It occurred during the Moors and Christians festivals that were being celebrated in the municipality.
The individuals involved, all of Spanish nationality, were between 22 and 23 years of age. According to sources of the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU, the reasons for the fight are still unclear).
Municipal sources said that the youths involved in the dispute were all from the towns of Elche and Albacete and that after the assault, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle leaving behind the injured victims.
The vehicle was finally located with its four occupants inside as it drove through the urbanization of El Raso, close to the area in which the events occurred.
The four arrested will likely now available to the Judicial Authority.
The area in which the fight took place is one of the busiest weekend locations in the region. Hundreds of young people from all over the municipality mix with thousands of tourists where they relax until the early hours around these centres of nightlife.
It is not the first time that incidents of this kind have occurred in the vicinity. Last April, in a similar incident four youths were stabbed and a further six people were arrested as a result of another fight.
