DAYS OUT DURING THE SUMMER HOLS

Terra Mitica

As part of our new series, reporter Gemma Quinn aims to give you some ideas of days out to enjoy this summer in our region. In association with Casa La Pedrera Family Days Out, there will be something to suit all budgets and tastes. Last week we visited Mundomar, this week we stay in Benidorm to entertain the teenagers....

It has to be Terra Mitica for older children and teenagers looking for some thrill seeking and white knuckle rides. This Benidorm favourite has been entertaining visitors since it opened in 2000 and each year welcomes new shows and spectacles. Divided in to five themed zones of Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia, and the Islands of the Mediterranean, there are rides and attractions to excite you in each area.

When entering the park you will be transported to ancient Egypt and Terra Mitica's version of the pyramids and the River Nile. From here you can enjoy a cruise along the river and take in some views of the park and all it has to offer, but don't gaze in wonder for too long and get in those queues and start riding those attractions. The most white knuckle rides are SynKope, a circular disc that swings at 90km/h at an angle of 120degrees above the ground; Titánide, a looping roller coaster and the adrenalin pumping Inferno. Families can also enjoy the Rapids of Argos – but be warned, you may get a little wet, these are no relaxing lazy rivers!

If travelling with small children in your party as well as teenagers, rest assured there are just as many rides suited to the little ones as for the adrenalin junkies with many of the bigger rides being replicated for younger visitors. People of all ages can also enjoy a range of daily shows that take place throughout the park in the different areas including Dreams, a colourful and acrobatic circus style show, new for this year.

Or Why Not Try....QUAD BIKING!

If you still want an adrenalin filled, exciting and unique off road experience but theme parks are not your thing, then visit Casa La Pedrera, the Grand Design House, just 20 minutes inland from the coast. Teenagers and older children will love the experience of being in control of a quad bike and heading out on the many tracks around the lakes. From gentle inclines to death defying drops their trails are tailored for your own ability and there is no better time to try it than at sunset. The beautiful scene of seeing the sun set over the tranquil blue waters of lake Pedrera is juxtaposed with the fast and furious sound of the engines on the quads. Alternatively book at a time at your convenience and spend the day at their amazing pools with jacuzzi, slides and even a 4m diving board and end the day with a BBQ or lunch at the tea garden. You can even try your hand at air rifle shooting or archery. The choice is yours...
