SALT AND HABANERAS AT U3A
Graham Knight, Director of OARI was the guest speaker at the recent meeting of the Torrevieja branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A). He gave a fascinating and informative talk on the history of Torrevieja.
U3A members and guests were enthralled as Graham brought to life the many strands of the history of the town and explaining how the International Habaneras festival developed and how the production of salt was and still is today a very important product for Torrevieja. Clearly the speaker has a deep passion for Torrevieja and for all the cultural and historic aspects on offer to both residents and visitors alike.
The meeting continued with the announcement by Bob Hill, Chairman, of a musical gala evening for U3A members to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Association. The gala evening is a ticket only event to be held at the Palacio de la Música on Thursday 27th October.
U3A meetings continue throughout the summer on the last Thursday of each month at La Rustika (formerly Los Arcos) U3A summer meetings are informal gatherings designed to give members an opportunity to relax over coffee and for guests and non-members the chance to discover more about the benefits of joining the U3A.
