COLLEGE CULTURAL CAMPAIGN PRIZES

Eduardo Dolon, Torrevieja's Mayor Elect was on hand in the Palacio de la Música on Friday to present the VII ‘Cultura en el Colegio' (Culture at the College) awards to the prizewinners in this year's competition.
This year's campaign attract entries from more than 5,000 students from 13 Infant and Primary schools, Secondary Education Institutes (ESO) and the Centre for Special Education ALPE and Dolon, along with the judging panel was suitable impressed with the high standard of the wining entries.
Presenting the awards, along with Torrevieja's Mayor Elect, Eduardo Dolon, was the acting delegate of Education, José Manuel Pizana, Municipal Librarian, Carmen Munoz, director of the Municipal School of Theatre, Raul Ferrandez, the director of the Municipal School of Photography, Justo Gil, and Professor of the School of Painting, Manuel Balaguer.
Throughout the 2010/2011 school year, thousands of Torrevieja students have participated in a variety of activities entitled "Culture at the College" which began last October with musical activities ‘El metal y sus colores' (Metal and their colours) promoted by the Caixa and held in theTeatro Municipal, attended by 1,600 students from different schools in the city.
The campaign continued in January 2011 with visits to the city's museums, including the Floating Maritime Museum (Delfin S61 Submarine, Pascual Flores, Albatross Custom Boat), Museum of Natural History, Salt Interpretation Centre, a visit to the Municipal Choir School and the Municipal School of Theatre, plus Municipal Library, Semana Santa Museum plus an exhibition of ‘Knowing the Torrevieja Coast from the Sea.'
All the City's schools and colleges fully backed the activities on offer and Dolon said that the “The turnout was for all these activities was massive, from all colleges and institutes, together with the special education school ALPE.” A ‘special trip' is being arranged as the ‘Prize' to allow the prizewinners to celebrate along with their classmates.
