PUPPY RESCUE VISIT HOLLAND
On Sun 10th April Nikki and I set off with 9 puppies for Holland to visit the Dutch Shelter. After 36 hours with many stops to feed water and exercise the pups we arrived Monday evening. Having sent more than 150 dogs and pups to Janni for homing, this trip was to talk about the future and to see the Dutch set up.
All the dogs and pups are kept in inside pens with outside access during the day, the pens have under floor heating and are very large with tiled floors and walls, the dogs and pups are all fed on good quality dog food and given treats at bed time.
We were made very welcome and were given a guided tour of the shelter, we were told how they go about homing our dogs and what is expected of the new owners. We spent many hours talking about our problems here in Spain and how moving the dogs on to Holland has enabled us to continue taking in puppies from our area. We talked about medication and treatment of puppy illnesses and how to prevent them. As we were only able to stay for one day the time soon came to return to Spain, but we were loaded up with Blankets and treats for the dogs and soft toys to sell in our shop.
Carla, Janni's assistant, is to visit us in May to see 1st hand our problems and how we raise funds to care for the dogs, she will also be taking dogs and puppies back with her.
This trip has secured future shipment of unwanted dogs and puppies from Spain to Holland where they have people waiting to give them good homes, to date over 100 are now enjoying home life.
All we need now is the money to continue sending them. If you would like to sponsor a dog or puppy to go to Holland or would like to help raise funds, please go to our web site www.puppyrescueinspain.org or email info@puppyrescueinspain.org.
