EASTER STABBING ARREST

The Guardia Civil have arrested a 28 year-old accused of stabbing a homeowner up to nine times in Huércal-Overa.
The attack happened on Easter Friday as a parade was going through the streets of the town. The 28 year-old had broken in to the home but was disturbed by the owner at around 8pm. As he tried to get the thief off his property a fight broke out and the 61 year-old was stabbed nine times.
A citizen alerted police and the emergency services after finding the injured man lying in the street with serious injuries to the chest.
A Guardia Civil patrol and an emergency medical team attended the scene and an ambulance transported the critically injured victim to the Immaculate Conception hospital, where he was transferred to the hospital Ruiz de Alda of Granada because the severity of injuries to his lung, abdominal cavity and the coronary artery.
Police arrested the alleged perpetrator just hours later and on Tuesday the judge ordered his imprisonment on charges of attempted murder and possession of illegal weapons.
