ORIHUELA PSOE CELEBRATES MAY DAY

The 1st May is an important day for workers everywhere and a day of particular significance for the Spanish Socialist Party because the PSOE is the party that represents the workers.

May Day is also an important date in the PSOE calendar because it was in Madrid, on the 2nd May, 1879, that the party was founded by Pablo Iglesias. May Day is a traditional holiday and day of celebration for workers and trades unions in many parts of the World.

The PSOE Councillor for Orihuela Costa, Rosa Martínez, said: “For the third consecutive year, the PSOE commemorates this important celebration for residents of Orihuela Costa. This year the celebration will take place in San Bartolomé (a village in the Orihuela Municipality) and we invite the oriolanos of Orihuela Costa to celebrate this special day, together with oriolanos from all areas of the Municipality, with a big barbeque and a fiesta.

The Orihuela Costa PSOE is commited to the integration of all residents and arranges events and celebrations which offer opportunities for everyone to join together; Spanish and International residents from all parts of the Municipality. For this reason, once again, we see the May Day Fiesta as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the residents of Orihuela”.

Buses will be provided to take people to and from San Bartolomé. The buses and the barbeque are free.
