UK SECOND MOST POPULAR COUNTRY

The UK has been voted the second most popular nation in the world. That's according to the BBC World Service Country Rating Poll released last week which showed that positive views of the United Kingdom have risen from 53% in 2010 to 58% this year.
It was beaten only by German which was the most positively viewed nation overall, with 63% of those surveyed rating its influence as positive. Almost 29,000 people were questioned across 27 countries. Of those countries, 24 lean positively towards the UK while two, Pakistan and Mexico, have overall negative views.
Those with the most positive views of the UK were the US, at 80%, followed by Australia at 79% and Canada at 69%.
In this year's annual poll, Canada was the third most popular followed by Japan, France and Brazil. The US came seventh ahead of China, South Africa and India. There was no mention of Spain which fared pretty well in our own survey.
We went to Greenlands Bowls Club and asked the members what they thought of the results and their favourite country and many said it was their chosen home of Spain. “A few years ago we went around the world, all lovely exotic places, but when we got back to where we live here we said ‘thank god we live here' in fact it re-enforced the fact that we had chosen the right place to live.” Said Cas.
Her friend Hilda agreed, “I think it's great here, we have a great quality of life, it's brilliant.” Doreen spends half her year in Spain and half in the UK, “We enjoy the six months in Spain the best, it's much more sociable, more outdoor living and it's cheaper although we do enjoy the Yorkshire Dales as well although I would choose Spain as the best place to live rather than the UK.”
Mick is also living in his favourite place but his second favourite place would be Barbados,” I love Barbados but my first should really be by home of Wales.” Noel added, “I like England only because all my family are in England but being Irish, I would go back there but the financial crisis has put a dampener on it.”
Noel has lived in Spain for 20 years and is surprised it wasn't featured on the list, “Quality of life here is far superior to England. I was very surprised that the UK came second in the poll.” Commenting on the poll leader Noel said, “I have lived in Germany as well and it is a superb country.”
