WEBSITE TO CATER FOR EUROPEAN RESIDENTS

The Alicante Councillor for European residents, Mª Asuncion Prieto and the Vice Secretary for the PP party in Alicante, Miguel Ortiz have announced this week that the provincial website for the political party has been translated into English and German in order to accomodate the growing number of European residents in Alicante. “There is a large number of European residents in the Province,” commented Snr Ortiz, “and it is essential that they have all the information that they need and also that we can share with them our ideas and proposals.”

Ms Prieto underlined the huge importance that European residents have within the Alicante Province. She said: “These people have decided to make Alicante their new home and therefore the PP works in order to make Alicante an example of a multicultural and integrated society.”

The Province of Alicante has the largest number of European residents registered in the whole of Spain. Out of the 1,926,285 people, 15% (290,662) are European residents. Out of that figure, 45% (130,302) are British and 13% (36,543) are German. Ms Prieto continued: “If we add the non-European residents to this data, we can see that almost a quarter (24%) of the provincial population are non Spanish residents.”

Ms Prieto added: “The PP political party in Alicante has been working for a long time to promote integration within the Province. This policy of positive integration has been designed to accomodate the needs of those residents. The PP considers that all residents, regardless of their nationality, as ´Alicantinos´.

“With this objective in mind, the Partido Popular of Alicante goes one step further in order to get closer to the EU citizens, share with them their political programme as well as their ideas and proposals.” Aware that language could sometimes be a barrier, the PP of Alicante has translated their website at www.alicantepp.es into English and German. And relevant information can be obtained by clicking on the “Residentes Europeos” link.

The Partido Popular of Alicante has also set up a new e-mail address for European residents to send questions and make enquiries in both English and German and those questions and enquiries will be responded to in the same language with the aim of improving communications with all citizens. The e-mail address is alicante@pp.es
