NEW DRAINAGE SYSTEM FOR PLAYA DE LOS LOCOS

The junction at the bottom of Avenida de las Habaneras and Calle Palangre at Los Locos Beach will be closed for up to a month while major works are underway to improve the draining system and replace some aging pipes in the area. An investment of almost 120,000 is been spent on the upgrades.
The work involves the renewal of the collecting drains and installation of rain gutters plus installing 75-meter collector pipes of 1,000 mm diameter, 21 meters of 500 mm diameter pipes and 30 meters of 300 mm. Torrevieja's Mayor, Pedro Hernandez Mateo said “these works include the installation of 60 square meters of gutters, which can collect rainwater to an intensity of 35 litres per square meters in two hours.
The Mayor reported that the budget of the work amounts to 119,000 euros, taking a lead time of just one month, Hernandez Mateo was quick to highlight the tremendous effort that the Municipality was putting in to renew these pipelines. Notably, the point at which they are located is acting is one of the most important on the Torrevieja coast, especially in summer, when the influx of residents and tourists is very high in homes and apartments in the area, as well as the Beach area itself .
