Exceltur executive vice president, José Luis Zoreda, noted that Galicia was “clearly the winner” in the ranking of 2010 while the Canaries also pulled in the visitors thanks to a surge in the last quarter of German arrivals after five years of declines.

It was also noted the good performance of San Sebastian, Bilbao and Vitoria in the Basque Country.

The recovery of tourism 'business' benefitted big cities like Madrid and Barcelona and had a growth of 2% over beach destinations.
