BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT EXITE RADIO

Jan with her daughter Ellñie in the Exite studios

When Jan Williams, a resident of the Wirral and regular listener to Exite Radio, wanted to celebrate her latest birthday, she was in for a big surprise when her daughter Ellie made arrangements for her to visit Spain, and take over the airways of Exite Radio to play all her favourite songs.

Jan has been a regular listener and contributor to the station for some time now, one of the ever growing global audience that the station has, and would frequently request her favourite songs as she was busy hard at work in the UK. Knowing how much the music meant to her, and how much she enjoys listening to Exite Radio, Ellie spoke with Mark Nolan to make the first steps in making this birthday party a reality.

And so, on Wednesday, Ellie brought Jan to the Exite Radio studios, armed with her list of all time favourite songs, and the party started mixing those tunes together as Jan took over the airwaves and even plucked up the courage to speak live on air to Mark, during the Exite Daytime show.

Also a regular user of Twitter, Jan was online chatting to other regular listeners around the world at the same time as playing her songs and speaking live on air, showing the power of radio in bringing communities together, wherever they might be, extending a hand of friendship across the waters and around the globe, making radio what it should be, entertainment, news and information for everyone, wherever they might be.
