ICA CHURCH ON THE MOVE

ICA CHURCH ON THE MOVE

The International Christian Assembly church in Torrevieja is on the move. Having been based at Calle Sanmiguel de Salinas 2 for more than five years, the congregation will be worshiping in new premises on the corner of Urbano Arregui and Pilar de Horadada in the Acequion district of Torrevieja this Sunday (January 2) for the fist time at 11am.

The new premises, formerly a furniture showroom, vacant for the past two years, is half as large again as the old, and gives the church the opportunity of extending its pastoral care work to a larger community.

The ICA was born in 2004 at the home of one of its founding families, soon moving to the centre of Torrevieja, Calle Zoa, where it stayed and grew for almost two years.

It now boasts a congregation of several scores of regular worshippers. The church is led by pastor Rafael Restrepo, who, with his wife Mary, have been missionaries for 24 years and have helped start five churches, one in Uruguay, South America, and four in Spain. Both are from USA with Rafael being of Columbian descent. They have four daughters and live in Los Balcones.

Jack Kirk serves as an elder with Rafael. He was an officer with the Salvation Army in the UK for more than 20 years before retiring to the Torrevieja area.

The ICA is a gathering of many nationalities and denominations, and, as a non-denominational church, focuses on the person of Jesus and the teaching of scripture.

More can be found on the church's web page: www.icatorrevieja.org Services will be held on Sundays at 11am and 6.30pm.

With communion at both services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, and on Wednesday mornings at 11:00 there is our Ladies meeting, All ladies are most welcome. Tune in to Exiteradio www.exiteradio.com every Sunday morning at 08:00 to "Sweet sounds on Sunday" and listen to the Church Notice board for future meeting details etc.

Said Rafael: We have been looking for larger premises for some time and the move is a very exciting for us. We also want to offer the premises for use by the community because we know there are many local organisations who are currently using premises that are either two small or too large for them and would welcome something of the size we now have, about 300 square metres.

"We also would like to reach the Spanish and Dutch communities in particular, as well as continuing our ministry to the British and Irish ex-pat communities."
