COMPENSATION FOR STRIKE DELAYS

A Spanish solicitor in Madrid has launched a legal campaign against the Spanish airport authority AENA, for compensation for delays and loss suffered by the thousands of people stranded by the illegal strike by air traffic controllers.

Now, a local solicitor for the Alicante area has embarked upon doing the same. Oscar Ricor of Ricor Abogados was himself caught up in the chaos, having to postpone important meetings in the UK, and at a financial loss to himself. He has also been contacted by a number of people asking if there is any way to make a claim for losses that may not be covered under the European legislation.

Mr Ricor has told us that “The best way to ensure an impact in a case like this is by using a class action, which is where a group of clients get together and raise a single case. That way, the impact on a claim is far greater than an individual submitting the same.”

He continued “The strike by Spanish air traffic controllers earlier this month disrupted the travel of hundreds of thousands of people on one of Spain's busiest holiday weekends. Somebody must be made accountable for their actions and recompense those innocent victims for the inconvenience that was caused, both in terms of the disruption, and also in the financial losses suffered.”

Ricor Abogados encourages all passengers affected by this illegal strike, to contact them to enquire about the possibility of making a claim and to join in the class action being raised. Time is of a premium however, as all cases must be put before the court within a very strict and short space of time after the disruption has been caused. Therefore, if you ahave been affected at all, it is important to act fast to make your case heard.
