OCTOBERFEST OFF AND RUNNING AT MARINA SALINAS

A serving ‘wench’ dressed in traditional costume

Beer and cars don't often mix but when the occasion is Octoberfest, the blend can work together well. Marina Salinas was the place to be over the weekend to enjoy a taste of authentic German beer, sausages and snacks, not to mention serving ‘wenches' dressed in traditional costume and entertainment, all going to provide a great atmosphere to start October with a smile.

Organised by local bar owners Alan and Oscar this inaugural event proved to be a success and very popular with the ever-expanding number of people who are slowing discovering what Marina Salinas is all about. Alan's bar, Ole del Mar was full of patrons during daylight hours and as dusk fell on October 1, a car display organised by Noche del Coche pulled up to add to the atmosphere, along with their designated drivers!

The four-day event was one of a couple of locations throughout the city that offered their own twist on this popular Bavarian event. Awaiting confirmation is an officially sanctioned Town Hall event on the harbour front, tentatively scheduled for the end of the month after the Outlet Fair vacates the Marquee Tent on the old Fairground site.
