COOKIE COMES HOME

Cookie, the miniature horse rescued by Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre (EHCRC) last Easter, is back home after spending the summer in Barcelona with one of Spain's top horse vets.

Gaspar Castelijns operated on Cookie's front legs, which had been badly damaged by laminitis, a painful inflammatory disease caused by the years of neglect and bad diet Cookie had endured.

Said Sue Weeding from EHCRC, “It is wonderful to have Cookie back, she is like a new horse. Before the surgery she could barely walk, and could not have continued without treatment. We are so grateful to Gaspar for everything he has done and to all the people who helped us raise the money to pay for Cookie's surgery.”

Most vets offer no solution for horses lame from laminitis, but Gaspar is doing ground-breaking work and gave Cookie a lifeline. Because he supports the work of the centre, he performed the surgery at cost price and charged nothing for Cookie's lengthy hospital stay.

Cookie can be visited on open days at the centre in Rojales every Sunday and Wednesday, 1-4pm. More details of the work of the centre can be found at www.easyhorsecare.net To contact the centre call Sue Weeding on 652021980 or email info@easyhorsecare.net
