CV – Please help!!?
Ok Im 22 years old. I have owned and worked with horses my whole life. My parents owned a big riding school and hotel for 18 years were we had as many as 70 horses at a time. Since they retired, we moved to Spain and I have bought and sold horses, and been teaching in Torrevieja. Now I love horses, and I currently own 3. BUT I NEED A CHANGE!!!I have a good set of GCSE’s but after that I don’t really have anything. I am very socialable, good with handerling problems, great with people, adults and kids. Quiet happy to be left alone doing a job, very loyal and have a clean driving liecence. I have never ever been out of horses, so Im lost writing my CV for other work. A nice boring 9 – 5 job in a small shop would be just perfect at the moment. Its difficult to get a good job out here in Spain if you have no real skills and you dont speak spanish. So my plan is to print off a rook load of cvs and hand them out to all the shops in my area. PLEASE HELP!!!!I have evening summer (horse) stunt work for live shows that pays well and is my real ambition. This was the CV I was trying to fill out. . . . I got stuck on things like skills and interestsmy only real interests are. . swimming fire spinning and horses. my skills well i have a driving liecence? bah!

I used to work with horses too, then left to work with children with special needs to fit in with my own children so I know how you feel! You have good customer service skills – you have to to communicate with your clients! You have good timekeeping skills – horses have inbuilt clocks you can’t change lol. You are computer literate – you are typing your questions on the internet and using email! You are used to handling money and good with figures – how else would your clients pay you . . . . you starting to get the picture? Honestly, you use more of your skills gained in the horse industry than you actually think you would to do another job. Good luck xx
Think Tracey answered that one for you!!!
I used http://www. icandobetter. co. uk to write my cv and they explained how to apply for jobs, answer questions in interviews. – I was worried about a break in my CV but she gave me tips on how to make the most of it
Your CV should capture all the experience you have gathered over the years. Your CV should be divided into three sections of information: Personal stuff (your name, address, date of birth, languages spoken etc), Educational qualifications. Every training you have received that is backed by a certificate is included here, and then the third section deals with work experience. Do not belittle anything you have done in the past to earn money. The experience working with horses and running your own business is good stuff. Don’t forget to elaborate on what this entailed like book keeping, networking, customer relationship management etc. The final section would emphasis on your special skill and general interest. . . Remember to include information on any outstanding stuff you have done (i. e. participation in shows, winning races etc) under an Achievement heading. Once you have the information in draft, proceed to fine tune it. Ensure the information is presented in a professional structure and language. No spelling errors should be on a CV. Have some one translate in into Spanish as well. The fact that you don’t speak the language could be a challenge. So why don’t you start taking lessons and include this fact in your CV. I strongly feel that your CV would be interesting to read given the brief you put together above.
