SHIP FIRE IN ALICANTE PORT

The fire was attended by a dozen officers

A cargo vessel docked at Pier 13 in the Port of Alicante was attended by five tenders from the Alicante Fire Service as well as a number of tugboats, equipped with hoses, from the Maritime Fire Service on Monday morning after a blaze was reported to have caught in its hold

The fire was reported at 9.30 am and was attended by a dozen officers who brought it under control within about 40 minutes. No one was injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but according to a spokesman it started while sailors were unloading fibreglass blades for wind turbines from the ship.
The ship "Bonacieux" was registered in Gibraltar. It arrived in Alicante from the port of Bilbao on Saturday.
