Twelve arrested for retail drug sales
Orihuela National Police have arrested twelve members of a family clan allegedly dedicated to the sale of small-scale narcotics, mostly cocaine and hashish, in entertainment venues in the area, according to police sources reported today.
The arrests have been carried out last Friday in a huge police operation developed in the hamlet of La Murada, which also were five houses.
In these homes, agents have seized 25 grams of cocaine, 154 grams of marijuana, 40 grams of marijuana seeds, 3.7 grams of hashish, eleven tablets of ecstasy, 370 grams of the drug substance to manipulate and notebooks related entries, it seems, to drug trafficking.
They have also intervened three precision balances, 5,200 euros in cash and a shotgun.
In their investigations, police identified two couples who were primarily responsible for purchasing the drug for distribution, for which they were assisted by other detainees, also familiar in varying degrees of kinship.
The alleged members of the clan formed a group “practically closed and inaccessible to anyone other than him,” making it difficult to further investigations, the sources explained.
The detainees, aged between 25 and 44, have been made available to the Investigating Court 2 of Orihuela in guard duties.
