Vandalism Bowl CLUB AT St. Louis
Dear Leader,I never thought that there would be so many volunteers to fill the role vacated by the late Albert Pierepoint (Hangman) but that is how many members feel after the latest incident at San Luis (its like Coronation Street, it never ends). Most of you will now be aware that our bowling green was totally destroyed with the carpet on all seven rinks being cut and large sections of it being stolen, this of course means that for the next month or two we will be playing our games elsewhere. The good news is our President / owner Vic Slater has placed an order for a new carpet. Lemon Tree, El Rancho and the new club Vista Bella, have agreed that we can play our games on their greens, we have indeed been most fortunate. Our team captains will liaise with their opposite numbers so hopefully all will run smoothly. In conclusion I would like to thank all the clubs and individuals who have offered and indeed helped over the past week, this seems to be the norm in bowling and by this letter all bowlers will be aware of the situation that prevails. . Yours sincerely,Ian Young, Secretary San Luis Bowls Club. Sports Ed. Ian, we are all delighted to see that you are acting positively and moving on. The club is indeed in very good hands. We were all appalled that anyone could be so vindictive and we hope sincerely that the perpetrators can soon be brought to justice. This was an absolutely heinous act and we would urge anyone with information that might lead to the prosecution and conviction of these criminals to call this newspaper in confidence.
