RUMANIAN CLAIMS TO HAVE BEEN TORTURED BY TORREVIEJA POLICE

A 21 year old Rumanian citizen, Mihai C.C., claims to have been beaten and tortured by Torrevieja Guardia Civil officers last year. The young man denounced the treatment he received at the hands of the officers last December, and the case went to trial at the beginning of the month.

The Rumanian, who has returned to Torrevieja for the case, was spending some time in the town, when the alleged abuse took place. Mihai CC was arrested, together with two friends, when they got into a fight with Moldavians. At the cuartel he was forced to strip naked and do press ups and sit ups until he could do no more. He then claims he was hit around the head, in the face, on his legs, back and neck.

The sub delegation of the Guardia Civil has made no declarations on the matter.
