TORREVIEJA HOSPITAL BECOMES TECHNICALLY INNOVATIVE

The new centre

The president of Caja Mediterráneo (CAM), Modesto Crespo, together with the representatives of Microsoft in Spain, confirmed the agreement for the setting up of the Centre for Tecnologial Innovation in Torrevieja Hospital, on which work will be started immediately.

The other main partner, Telefonica, couldn't be present at the press conference.

Modesto Crespo has agreed to find the funds to enable the centre to open, and he has suggested incorporating Coepa and the Chamber of Commerce into the plan. This means the CAM Bank will be footing the bill of 800,000 euros. Microsoft has another 150 similar centres all over the world.

The choice of Torrevieja is, according to Camps, a clear example of how the three provinces in the Generalitat are treated on an equal footing.

The second floor of Torrevieja Hospital is where the centre will be based for now, until the new structure is built on orange groves near the Hospital. Francisco Camps visited the area last Monday, where 400 square metres form a reception, two offices, a meeting room, and a work area. The new system should completely speed up and innovate the whole system at the hospital.

Camps also announced during the visit that all users of the health services in Torrevieja will now be able to check their medical records on their mobile phones, using a pin code for personal access. The Mayor of Torrevieja thanked the staff at the hospital for their extraordinary and commendable work.
