PSOE TO CELEBRATE MAY DAY IN ORIHUELA COSTA

The PSOE opposition party of Orihuela is to host a special event on 1 May at the new Asturias Restaurant in Punta Prima. May Day is a day that recognises workers all over the world and has a special significance to the PSOE political party in Spain, because it is the party that represents the interests of ordinary working people.PSOE opposition councillor for Orihuela Costa, Rosa Martinez, said: “For the second year running, the PSOE party is bringing this important celebration to the coast of Orihuela. We invite everyone to join us in recognition of working people all over the world, with a short talk about May Day, as well as dancing courtesy of Raquel Peña's sevillanas dancers, and an optional lunch for people who wish to relax and enjoy the bank holiday afternoon.”

May 1 is also the eve of another important date for the PSOE party of Spain, which was founded on May 2 in Madrid in 1879 by Pablo Iglesias. May Day is celebrated throughout the world by workers' unions and socialist movements.

The PSOE opposition party of Orihuela is keen to include international residents living on the coast of Orihuela in cultural events and celebrations, to enable people to better integrate into the Spanish way of life.

The PSOE event on May 1 at the New Asturias Restaurant, Punta Prima, begins at 1pm. Entry is free and lunch is optional.
