MINISTER TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF TOURIST DESTINATIONS

The State Secretary for Tourism, Joan Mesquida, and the President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Pedro Castro Vázquez, have signed an agreement to improve the quality of tourism in Spanish destinations.
Their hope is that municipalities to adhere to the Sistema Integral de Calidad Turística en Destinos (SICTED) [Comprehensive System of Tourist Destination Quality], which is managed by the State Secretariat for Tourism.
To that end, Turespaña will allocate 150,000 euros to the FEMP for coordination of activities related to the development and implementation of policies regarding the quality of tourism at Spanish destinations. The FEMP will undertake the following actions: Evaluation of destinations and advice to experts responsible for developing quality projects, as well as supervision of the selection and adhesion to the project by Spanish resorts.
Support for the voluntary implementation by Spanish tourism companies of the Methodology and Good Practice Guidelines of the quality system. Training of the personnel involved in implementing the system in the tourist destinations.Spreading the quality system to other municipalities, provinces and tourist destinations.
Support and help to the technical office of the comprehensive quality system. Creation and distribution of the various accreditations regarding implementation of the comprehensive quality system methodology, under the common slogan of “Compromiso de Calidad Turística” [“Commitment to Tourism Quality”].
