Torry Ladies Lose Derby to Elche

By thisistorrevieja

Torrevieja ladies FC visit to Elche was always going to be a difficult one. With 5 regular first teamer’s missing due to illness and injuries it was an up hill battle for most of the game. With the new look Torre the team were torn apart by slick passing moves from Elche and with in a few minutes they were 1-0 down.

The Torre team were all over the place position wise, and when they finally got the ball off Elche they were only able to create one or two passes before it broke down again. It was a case of defend, defend, defend for our girls.

With the way Torre were playing it was only a matter of how many Elche could score and at half time Torre found themselves 3-0 down.

The second half brought a more spirited display from Torre. Yes the game was already over and Elche had made a few changers of their own but our girls seemed to battle better and move forward together as a team. There was a few moves in the match that had Elche back peddling but nothing really came from it. Elche did finally find the net again later in the second half with a lob straight over the substitute keepers head (Kim).
Despite the defeat Torre can take heart from their second half performance. The Europa Player of the match went to Shell who worked hard chasing up and down the pitch for the whole 90 minutes as well as trying to keep the passing going when we had the ball.

The next game will see Torre at home on the 29th November 12 o’clock kick off against Denia. This is the last home game for the girls before the Christmas break. Denia are also a team struggling at the bottom of the league so your support would be welcome and best of all it’s free.
